Scattered Israel

TO THE EDITOR. Sir-In your last issue Mr. A. E. Tripet makes a very common mistake by contending that the Jews are Israel, and so that our readers may not be misled I hope toy will give space for this answer. Now, we all know that the Twelve Tribes of Israel (Jacob) were, prior to 953 B.C. under one king. In that year they became divided into two kingdoms-the house of Israel under King Jeroboam and the house of Judah (the jews) under King Roboboam, and they have been separated ever since. It is most important to bear this separation in mind, for it is here that most people including Mr. Tripet, get confused, and the prophecies of the Bible misunderstood. For it is a most common mistake for Biblical students to think that when Gos speaks of Israel He always refers to Jews. The house of Judah is composed of two tribes “Judah and Levi”. These are the Jews of the present day, and have never been lost. From the time of the separation and up to the siege of Jerusalem (under Titus) the house of Judah contained the tribe of Renfamin, but that tribe separated also from Judah just before a siege took place. The Jews are “of Israel” therrefore purely Israel-ites, but the people of the Ten Tribes were never news. a most important distinction to bear in mind. The Jews are at the present time, as we all know, scattered throughout the whole earth; but the Ten Tribes-i.e., the tribes of Reuben,Simeon. Issachar, Jo-seph, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, and Zebulun-are at the present time in-heriting an entirely different class of pro-phecies to those that now apply to the Jews. And in a nutshell here are the most outstanding:-“The Ten Tribes must at the present time be unknown in name” (Hos.1,9; Is. 35, 15). “ A multitudinous people” (Hos. 1 and 10). “ Strong in Power” (Is. 49, 1 and 8). “ A Christian People, that is. have ac-epted the doctrine that Christ is He who was to come” (Is. 44.44 13). “The chief among the nations', ( Micah 5 and 8; Is. 54, 15 and 17). Also, wherever the Ten Tribes are now theirs must be the predominant language of the world. Perhaps the Anglo-Saxon rid-dle may be of interest. So here it is-

Greek's harp we love to hear, Latin is a trumpet clear; Spanish like an organ swells; Italian rings her bridal bells; France with many a frolic mien, Tunes her sprightly violin; Loud the German rolls his drum, When Russia's clashing cymbals come; But Britain's sons may well rejoice, For English is the human voice.

I hope, Sir, this brief summing up may elp to roll away the mist, and your readers, including Mr. Tripet, may be intrested and enefited .- Yours, etc.,

W. SHEPHERD Warburton-street, Marrickville

Sunday Corner

Twenty drops of sunshine, mix 'em all together, Take 'em with a mile or more of bright, fresh weather; Twenty drops of smiling heart, laughter ringing out- Soon we'll have you well enough to up and be about!

Half a mile of exercise on the bloomy highway, With a little sparkling eye lifted to the skyway: Forty grams of atmosphere, with a bird song in it- Why, you're convalescing, lad; better every minute!

Dozen kindly deeds a day, helping someone's trouble, Break and blow a mile away like an airy bubble, Good, you're getting on so fine soon be be the time to leave you! To the lips o' love-of-life waiting to receive it!

Morning-glory plaster, plain, on your rheumatism; Little glimpse of morning gold through love's azure prism- Why, you're growing young again! Say, you're well over, All you need's a buttercup and a field of clover! |
